I can’t believe we’re about to enter a new decade – it feels like only yesterday we embarked upon the 2010s! Time is certainly flying by more quickly than it used to.
First up, a massive apology for the radio silence the past few months. I bought a house at the end of the summer and I’ve seemingly spent every waking moment (when I wasn’t in work) doing something house-related – whether decorating, cleaning, building furniture or sorting out all the many bits and pieces that have needed doing around the place.
All of which has sadly meant I’ve had no time for blogging (or even any trips). My laptop also died at the end of the summer, which compounded things and it’s taken ages to sort out a replacement.
Things however are much more settled now and the house is in relatively good shape (still lots to do though!), which means I’m finally getting back to some sort of normality.
I plan to start the new year with a renewed vigour, which means getting back to blogging regularly and making time to read other blogs, which I’ve also missed.
So what’s on the cards for 2020? Firstly, finishing up where I left off, which means finally completing and publishing my many half-written posts about my visit to Paris (above) last summer.
I also have a backlog of trips to Porto, Brittany, north Wales, Borneo, Malaysia and the Loire (below) to write up (handily I keep a very detailed diary when I travel, so the material’s there, it’s a just case of turning it into blog posts).
Travel-wise, I’m off to Venice shortly, back to Brittany in the summer and am hoping to embark on a two-week culinary adventure around Mexico in the autumn.
I’m also planning a trip to Manchester/Lancashire to visit friends in the spring, plus I’ll be fitting in the usual visits to friends in London and day trips here, there and everywhere.
Before I sign off, I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s read, liked or commented on my blog over the past year.
As ever, I’ve really appreciated your support and camaraderie, and am still amazed at what a friendly and welcoming place the blogging community is.
I’d also like to say a massive thank you to all the bloggers I follow or whose blog posts I’ve read and enjoyed in 2019.
I love reading what you’re up to and am hugely inspired by your creativity and passion. My blog wouldn’t be what it is today without you.
Wishing you all the happiest 2020!

Happy new year! It’s too late for happy housewarming, but it sounds as if you’re there anyway. I hope you continue to enjoy your new home.
