Manuel Antonio

Of all the places I visited in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio was possibly my favourite thanks to one delightful animal encounter after another and some spectacular beaches.

Costa Rica

Lush green rainforests, golden sandy beaches and active, lava-spewing volcanoes are just some of Costa Rica's diverse landscapes.

Barry Island

There's much more to Barry Island than Gavin and Stacey. The island, which boasts sandy beaches, grassy headlands and hidden coves is a fantastic place for a Sunday stroll.

Cascais

This small fishing town on the Atlantic coast, west of Lisbon, is renowned for its beautiful beaches and charming character.

Hoi An

Exploring the pretty, ancient trading port of Hoi An that embodies traditional Vietnamese culture and nearby Cua Dai Beach on the South China Sea.

Southerndown

Nestled in the shadows of the golden yellow limestone and shale cliffs of Wales's ancient Jurassic coastline, the sandy beach of Dunraven Bay only emerges when the tide is out.

Matsushima

This pretty, coastal town sits on the edge of a bay dotted with 250 small islands. It's one of the nihon sankei, that is, one of the three most scenic places in Japan.

Inchcolm Island

This small, idyllic island in the middle of the Firth of Forth is home to a medieval abbey, tunnels from the First World War, and lots and lots of seagulls.
