Cuba travel guide

Travelling around this Caribbean island famous for its rum, classic cars, salsa music and cigars can often feel like you've stepped back in time to a bygone era.

Havana

This is one cool capital city. The district of Old Havana exudes a faded glamour, a mix of beautifully-preserved colonial architecture, and run-down, frayed buildings.

Santa Clara

The site of a decisive battle in the Cuban revolution and the burial place of Che Guevara. Here you'll find the Tren Blindado Monument, commemorating a Guevara-masterminded train derailment, and a huge memorial to the revolutionary leader.

Cienfuegos

Nicknamed the 'Pearl of the South', the photogenic city of Cienfuegos on central Cuba's southern coast boasts a beautiful bay and some spectacular colonial architecture.

Trinidad

Steeped in history, this captivating colonial city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and with its cobbled streets – complete with cannons that stick out from between the cobbles – and its colourful, characterful buildings, it's easy to see why.

Viñales

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the jaw-droppingly beautiful Viñales Valley is made up of lush, green forest and striking, unusual-shaped mountains.
